Tokyo DisneySea Rockwork

Take a Look at the Magical Rockwork at Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea!

When Fantasy Springs opens at Tokyo DisneySea on June 6, 2024, there will be plenty of magical things to see and experience. One of these things that could be overlooked in all the excitement is the rockwork. However, the rockwork found in this new area of the Tokyo Disney Resort has a lot of magical details and stories to be found. The rockwork has running water, rock formations, music and color that looks absolutely beautiful, especially at night!

The rockwork found in this port at Tokyo DisneySea is actually one of the largest that has ever been created by Walt Disney Imagineering for any land. It all was based on animated movies and presented a unique challenge for the imagineers as they worked with Walt Disney Animation Studios artists as they thought through shadows, textures, and depth to bring everything to life.

“Each figure boasts a unique design,” Zsolt Hormay, Creative Executive, shared. “For example, Anna and Elsa have a full body sculpted within the rock, while Rapunzel’s focuses on her head, which was intentionally adorned with flowers. The goal was to convey the story that these figures are sculpted by water and the detailing of the faces were key in accomplishing this goal.”

Below is a look at some of details that can be found in the rockwork when Fantasy Springs opens in June. Check it out and see the magic that comes through these rocks.
