Critter Country is now closed (temporarily) at Disneyland. This comes as the land is getting ready for the opening later this year of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. When this attraction and land open, there will be two new shops themed to characters and stories from The Princess and the Frog.
With the closure of the land came new walls and new signs. The new walls block the entrance to Critter Country at the entrance of Hungry Bear Restaurant across to the former home of the Briar Patch shop. The new signs remind people about Mardi Gras season and that people shouldn’t forget to book their bands. This is clearly a reference to the plot of the new attraction. In Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Tiana is putting together a celebration and forgot to book musicians for the big shindig. This sets guests on a quest with Tiana and friends to find some musical friends to bring the party to life.
Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by Disneyland early in the morning of May 1st to take a look at the new walls and signs. He took the following photos of these new additions. Their arrival is a milestone toward the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure later this year. At this time, it is still possible to make the trek from New Orleans Square around the Rivers of America and over to Hungry Bear Restaurant and the entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It is unknown if this walkway will remain open throughout the entire time that the area is being worked on.
Along with the photos taken by Steven, Angela (another Daps Magic team member) stopped by on Sunday to film a video tour of the land before it closed. She also shot a ride-through of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh while there. The tour and photos of the land prior to its closure can be seen here.
