On this day in 1939, the Donald Duck short ‘Donald’s Cousin Gus’ was released. Gus Goose, Donald’s cousin, surprises him at home. Gus has a generous appetite and decides to take advantage of Donald’s hospitality! This debut was both the first cartoon and the first pre recorded program to be broadcast in the U.S. on the brand new medium of television. TV was demonstrated for the first time at the 1939 New York World’s Fair only one month prior! [85 years ago in 2024]
