The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil to End Run at The Mirage/Hard Rock Las Vegas

The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil is ending its run at The Mirage/Hard Rock Las Vegas on July 7, 2024. The show originally opened on June 30, 2006. The closure was announced by producers for the show on Tuesday.

Cirque du Soleil CEO Stéphane Lefebvre shared that the decision to end the run of the show was made by The Mirage/Hard Rock Las Vegas officials. “This wasn’t our decision,” Lefebvre said in a virtual interview Tuesday afternoon with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, after being asked why the show is closing. “As you you know, Hard Rock needs to take control of the entire venue and do some major renovations. So they need to get the show closed by July 7.”

Lefebvre shared that Cirque learned late last week that the show would be shut down. He also confirmed that there were currently no plans for it to go on tour or be resurrected elsewhere. “If it has a life beyond this venue, it will need to change the format a little bit. The theater is so unique, it’s a 360-degree stage and very deep,” Lefebvre said “If we want to move it elsewhere, if we look at somewhere in Europe, we need to make some significant changes.”

The closure of LOVE will also mean the loss of 230 jobs for cast and crew members that bring it to life. It will also mean that there will be no live productions anywhere that is licensed by Apple Corps as this was the only one. The show was created jointly by Cirque and The Beatles’ Apple Corps Ltd, and was the first theatrical production from Apple Corps. Love is both written and directed by Dominic Champagne. The music directors are legendary Beatles producer George Martin and his son Giles Martin.

LOVE loosely follows the story of The Beatles. It starts with their beginnings and follows their climb to stardom and dissolution. The grand finale is a celebration of the “reunion” of The Beatles that the show represents.
