The restaurant and design studio, The Coffee Builders and Porter Barn Wood are co-hosting the iconic theme park designer and one of the original Disney Imagineers, Bob Gurr, for a one-day-only seminar series. Gurr is a living theme park legend whom Walt Disney personally hired to design attraction vehicles for beloved rides including Disneyland’s Monorail, the Matterhorn bobsleds, Autopia, Haunted Mansion, and Submarine Voyage. As he’s often said, “If it moves on wheels at Disneyland, I probably designed it.” In fact, he has developed over 100 designs for various Disney attractions. Additionally, Gurr also designed the animatronic King Kong at Universal Studios and consulted on the animatronic dinosaurs for the original “Jurassic Park” movie.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 6th inside the stylish coffee shop and working wood and steel fabrication yard in the heart of downtown Phoenix. Guests can attend a lunchtime event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or an evening dinner from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Both events will include a can’t-miss speech and visual presentation.
The lunchtime event is $40 per ticket. During this event Bob Gurr will be signing autographs, taking pictures, and hanging out for a while. There a short intro from Bob and a few Q&A from the audience starting at 10am. Tables will then be called for merchandise and autographs so you don’t have to wait in line. Light appetizers and drinks provided by The Coffee Builders within the showroom space at Porter Barn Wood where the private meet & greet will be held. The dinner event will be $150 per ticket and will feature a more in depth presentation by Bob Gurr on working with Walt Disney and building Disneyland. Gluten free and vegetarian options will be available by request with 7 days advanced notice. Specialty themed coffee and tea drinks will also be available during the event.
