Attention Chuuby fans! Wait! Who’s Chuuby you might ask? Chuuby is an orange cartoon bird who lives in Runamuck Park in Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. He lives in the train barn by the Runamuck Railroad station, and is very friendly to guests as he often tries to entertain them.
Chuuby was an original character created for the attraction. According to Disney Imagineer Kevin Rafferty, Chuuby was originally intended to be named, “Chubby” but there was a typo during one of the development meetings and they all found the name Chuuby much more endearing. The three baby birds hatched from the eggs in the train barn loop are named the “Chuubettes.” During the attraction, Chuuby is encountered twice. Chuuby is first seen at the beginning of the attraction, atop the train tunnel in the first room after loading. The second time you encounter Chuuby is as you’re about to enter the unload area. Here Chuuby is seen overhead, chirping and dancing to entertain you as you wait for your train to be the next to unload.
Chuuby has also been very popular in merchandise. He is featured on plush, ear headbands, keychains, shirts, toys, magnetic shoulder plush, and magnets, which have available since the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in March 2020.
Beginning March 19, a new Chuuby souvenir popcorn bucket will be flying into Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland. A video posted on the Disney Parks Instagram previewed the Chuuby popcorn bucket.
