On this day in 1997, a 10th anniversary rededication ceremony for the Star Tours attraction was held at Disneyland. Chewbacca and Carrie Fisher, famous for her portrayal of Princess Leia, were on hand to carry out a lightsaber ribbon cutting. The ceremony was reminiscent of the medal ceremony at the end of ‘A New Hope.’ Carrie Fisher was presented with the “Disneyland Medal of Honor,” a unique and prestigious award!
