5 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at Knott’s Boysenberry Festival

The Knott’s Boysenberry Festival is returning to Knott’s Berry Farm starting on March 8, 2024. This year it continues through April 28. This is a favorite springtime tradition in Southern California with plenty of different things to do, eat, drink, and experience! If you have just one day to visit this year’s Boysenberry Festival, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to pick what to do first. Below are five favorite things that the Daps Magic team has enjoyed in previous years. They are in no particular order but they bring a smile to our faces and make for a fun day for us so we hope they will do the same for you!

1. Knott’s Preserved

This is a song and dance show that is presented on the Calico Mine Stage. It celebrates the history and heritage of California’s original theme park. It is fun and reminiscent of shows from days gone by. This is a popular show and people will begin getting seats early. However, if you don’t mind not having a great seat, you can show up closer to show time and get a decent spot to watch.

2. Fun Bun

There are plenty of different boysenberry food and beverages to enjoy throughout Knott’s Berry Farm during this festival. However, one of the classic offerings that is a favorite of the Daps Magic team is the Fun Bun. This is a deep fried cinnamon bun with boysenberry glaze. This is delicious and definitely shareable! It is a great Boysenberry Festival food offering though that is a lot of fun to get! If the Fun Bun isn’t your thing, don’t worry, there are PLENTY of other boysenberry treats to be found. If you only have one day at the festival, prioritize what you want to try and recognize that everyone else probably has a similar idea so be prepared to wait in line! The tasting card is also a fun way to try six different things for $55.

3. Boysenberry Pie Eating Contest

The Boysenberry Pie Eating Contest is another fun tradition that is hilarious and shouldn’t be missed at the Boysenberry Festival. It is so much fun seeing a bunch of people up on a stage shoving their faces into the famous Knott’s Berry Farm boysenberry pies! Personalities shine through the different ways that people attempt to attack their pies that often leads to laughter and squeals of disgust as people attempt to win this contest. For those that want to see this, just show up right before it starts and prepare to be amused. The Daps Magic team never misses this one!

4. Riverboat Revenge

It’s hard to beat an old fashioned melodrama. When it comes to melodramas at Knott’s Berry Farm, it’s even harder to beat Riverboat Revenge. This show is presented in the legendary Bird Cage Theatre in Ghost Town. This is another celebration of Knott’s Berry Farm’s past in its own unique way. It is quite humorous and fun for the whole family! The Daps Magic team does like to show up a little earlier for this one to get a seat in the center section rather than watching from the wings.

5. Craft Fair

The craft fair at Knott’s Boysenberry Festival is always a lot of fun to explore. There are some really fun and clever crafts found throughout the fair, many of them boysenberry-themed. There is also quite often wood carvers creating some incredible wood sculptures. Grab a snack/drink and watch as dust flies as pieces of wood become incredible pieces of art of various sizes. The rest of the fair is filled with creative creations from local artisans.

These are just five favorite things that the Daps Magic team enjoys during the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival. These aren’t the only five things to do, however. There are a lot of things to enjoy. In general, more than can be done in a day. This is a case where having a season pass is definitely a benefit for anyone who loves all of the Boysenberry Festival offerings!
