Light Pole Injures Guests When Blown Over by High Winds at Disneyland

Three guests were injured when a light pole blew over on Main Street, USA at Disneyland due to high winds according to Anaheim Fire officials. The mishap happened just before 8:30 AM and saw one of the injured guests transferred to the hospital with serious injuries. The two other people were treated at the scene.

The light pole fell in Town Square across a garden. It was the type of lighting that is used for parades and entertainment lighting, and not a traditional themed lamppost. It was on the east side of Town Square and fell in toward the center roughly in the direction of the flag pole. Within a couple hours, the pole had been removed from Town Square and other light poles could be seen being inspected.

This all comes as the Orange County area is in a High Wind Warning with Santa Ana Winds blowing from 30 or 40 miles per hour and gusts as high as 60 miles per hour. The park remained opened on this gusty morning and guests were directed into the park away from the fallen light pole.

Disneyland Resort is always keeping guest and cast member safety as a top priority. It would not be surprising to see Disneyland Resort cast members inspecting more light posts or similar structures that could be impacted throughout the day.
