Photos/Video: Downtown Disney District Construction Update – October 22, 2023

It’s time to take another look at the progress being made on the Downtown Disney District transformation. In just a matter of weeks, there will be a new stage and viewing lawn open on the west end of the Downtown Disney District. On the stage there will also be a new sculpture by Nikkolas Smith. According to Disney, this tower (sculpture) will “pay tribute to the sublime work of pioneering architects of color in Southern California during the mid-20^th century with unique geometric patterns in the sculpture, evoking the famed mid-century buildings they created.” Things are rapidly coming together for this and it is fun to watch the magic quite literally being made.

Along with the new stage and viewing lawn, there are also new restaurants coming to the west end as well. This includes Din Tai Fung and the Parkside Market area. These will all definitely popular spots once open in Downtown Disney District. More about them can be found here.

As has often been the case during this transformation, Daps Magic team member Angela stopped by and took a ride on the monorail to check out all of the updates as they are happening. Below is both a video and photos of how the transformation is progressing.

The transformation of Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort is expected to be completed by the holidays in 2024.
