The Villas at Disneyland Hotel are now open with guests getting to experience the magic of the 16th Disney Vacation Club property. Daps Magic was invited to experience the grand opening of this new property and then tour it afterward. This included tours of each type of room that is offered, the pool area, the lobby with its gorgeous mural, and also the gym. Tours of these can be seen below and thoughts on each of these will be up on Daps Magic later.
Before taking a look at the different parts of this new DVC property, though, here are a few thoughts and observations about The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. These are just thoughts I have had today while walking around the property and then since then as I’ve been working on photos, videos, and articles.
The Entrance
First off, walking up to The Villas at Disneyland Hotel this morning really was a welcoming thing. I especially enjoyed seeing the morning light on the outside of the building. The colors seemed even more vibrant in the morning and the Welcome Home signs while walking up to the lobby have a wonderfully retro feel to it. This theme continues while heading into the lobby area and then throughout the building. It is a vibe that is classic and really was welcoming to come into. I was reminded several times of my grandparents’ house but everything was perfectly pristine and new. The music here was quite enjoyable and I would be completely happy just sitting here and listening to the music for an extended period of time… perhaps while reading a book!
The Hallways
If you had asked me 24 hours ago if I would be writing about hallways, I probably would have raised my eyebrow and chuckled a bit. I definitely wouldn’t have taken it seriously. However, now that I have been able to quite literally walk the halls of this property I definitely think they are worth noting. Great care has been taken to make these hallways interesting and unique. They are unlike any hallways I’ve ever experienced in a hotel or DVC property. There are some incredible retro arches, wonderful wallpapers (also retro but unique and I want some), the carpets are vibrant and fun, and then there is the artwork. I could spend an entire day walking the halls and enjoying the artwork. I kept taking photos of different pieces that were found throughout our tour but they really should be seen in person as a photo just doesn’t do it justice.
The Rooms
There are several different room options to be found at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. This includes:
- Duo Studios
- Deluxe Studios
- 1- and 2-Bedroom Villas
- 3-Bedroom Grand Villas
Each of these accommodations have their own unique details. While they are similar, they are also quite different. I found myself really enjoying looking for the details in each of these different rooms. These details could be found in the artwork, the furniture, the carpet, and even the mirrors! While I was definitely trying to get general coverage and tours of each of these rooms, I also was really enjoying all of the care that was put into creating them. Oh, and the mosaics in the bathrooms were really incredible!
The Pool Area
The pool area really is a nice little oasis that is on the backside of the new building. In the middle of this area there is a Steamboat Willie water feature that has some little added doses of magic. This area, as with the rest of the property, has a nice retro feel. I will admit that I’m not a huge pool guy. I did find this area to be charming and I enjoyed the decorations, the colorful fountains that reminded me of the old Fantasy Waters, and the options to sit in the sun or in the shade. Oh, and the music in this area really was enjoyable as well.
The Mural
The mural is one of my favorite features to be found at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. It was created by Lorelay Bové, Associate Production Designer, Walt Disney Animation Studios. There are some absolutely beautiful artistic details to be found in the mural. This includes some classic and modern Disney characters, hidden Mickeys, and even a character to a character in the upcoming Disney animated feature, Wish. To see and hear about these details, watch the interview with Lorelay here:
Overall Thoughts
The Villas at Disneyland Resort is a wonderful addition to the Disneyland Resort. I’m not sure what I expected but what I saw was really magical. I love the vibe of this property. I love the rooms and amenities. What I love the most though are the magical details found throughout the hotel. Just about every area of the property has some well-thought-out details to be found. Some of these are easy to find, others take a little bit more effort. I do think these details, however, are really what makes The Villas at Disneyland Hotel stand out. This is a magical new Disney destination that really was a joy to explore.
