runDisney races are returning to the Disneyland Resort in 2024. The announcement was made during a presentation by Josh D’Amaro at the D23 Expo 2022. The races were discontinued for the Disneyland Resort in 2018 during a time when construction was ramping up for new lands and experiences. Since then the Disneyland Resort has added both Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and also Avengers Campus, among other new offerings and changes including what is going on at Downtown Disney District.
The return of runDisney to Disneyland will bring thousands of fans to the Disneyland resort for the various races that are yet to be announced. In general, races of different lengths are offered to make the experience accessible to as many different levels of runners and walkers.
The first race of what would become known as runDisney was at Walt Disney World in 1994 with the Walt Disney World Marathon. Races arrived at Disneyland in 1995. Through the years the races have grown in popularity with thousands upon thousands of people showing up to run through the parks around the globe.
