Disneyland Resort Updates Face Covering Policy and Adds Vaccine Guidelines

The Disneyland Resort has updated its policy for face coverings. The update allows for a “transparent plastic shield to aid in viewing the wearer’s mouth. For this to be in compliance with the resort’s health and safety protocols, the face covering must be fabric and feature a solid plastic panel that doesn’t have openings and is stitched to the rest of the face covering. It also must still adhere to the requirements of face coverings (listed below) that have been in place at the Disneyland Resort.

The current policy also addresses the vaccine. Face coverings will continue to be required for those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. This includes all guests ages 2 and up, along with Cast Members and any other employees at the Disneyland Resort.

The updated policy arrives as the Disneyland Resort begins to again serve food at the Downtown Disney District and soon Buena Vista Street after the stay at home order was lifted by California Governor Gavin Newsom. As of this writing, there isn’t an official reopening date set for restaurants run by Disney at the Disneyland Resort. DAPS MAGIC will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.

Disneyland Resort Face Covering Policy

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up), Cast Members and Operating Participant employees, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times. You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.

All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:

    • Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
    • Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
    • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
    • Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free

At this time, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas, and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.

Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.

Face coverings may have an integrated transparent plastic panel to aid in viewing the wearer’s mouth. These face coverings must:

    • Be a fabric face covering featuring a solid plastic panel containing no openings that is attached to the fabric on all sides using tight knit stitching
    • Meet all face covering requirements listed above

The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.
