Disney Extends Contract of CFO Christine McCarthy Through 2022

Disney CFO has extended her contract with The Walt Disney Company through 2022. This contract extension was disclosed in a regulatory filing. This means that McCarthy will continue on in the role she has had overseeing Disney’s finances since 2015. McCarthy also oversees investor relations, corporate real estate, corporate strategy, the company’s enterprise technology and its social responsibility efforts, and other areas.

McCarthy was The Walt Disney Company’s treasure for 15 years before being named the Chief Financial Officer. Initially, her deal with the company was set to expire next summer. Now, it will continue on through at least 2022. This deal was signed in 2017 and would have ended on June 30, 2021.

McCarthy is a key executive at The Walt Disney Company and can often be heard digging into Disney’s financials on earning’s calls. This Thursday, there will be an investors call and McCarthy most likely will play a role on this call. With McCarthy’s extension, it means that Bob Chapek will have one less thing to worry about as he continues to navigate Disney through the turbulent waters caused by COVID-19. Currently, Chapek’s contract has him in the role through February 2023.

Not everyone will be staying at The Walt Disney Company. Former CEO Bob Iger, who is now the Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board, will see his contract end at the end of 2021. Executive Vice President, secretary and general counsel Alan Braverman’s contract is also set to expire next year as well.
