50th Anniversary of Lucasfilm to Be Celebrated in 2021

Lucasfilm will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021. To kick off the celebration, Lucasfilm will be offering 50th anniversary Star Wars products. This launch will be coming in January of 2021 and will continue throughout the year with other special edition product releases.

“Consumer products have always been an integral part of the Star Wars fan experience, and they remain a constant force in pop-culture today,” shared Paul Southern, Lucasfilm senior vice president, Licensing and Franchise. “To commemorate Lucasfilm’s 50 years of storytelling, we look forward to honoring this consumer products legacy and bringing to life brand-new products, games, and publishing offerings that celebrate our future with Lucasfilm’s exciting feature films and Disney+ series ahead.”

Lucasfilm was found in 1971 by George Lucas. Through the last five decades, it has created the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. It has also has been an innovator in the worlds of visual effects, sound design, animation, and other filmmaking methods. Most recently this innovation can be found on Disney+ on The Mandalorian. Lucasfilm has won 29 Emmy Awards, 38 Academy Awards, 32 Sci-Tech Awards, 18 Webby Awards, and 12 awards for ILMxLAB’s groundbreaking work in immersive entertainment. It’s publishing wing has released over 180 on the New York Times Bestseller List. They have won multiple awards including the 2020 GLAAD Award for Outstanding Comic Book. Lucasfilm Games have also entertained fans while winning awards including the BAFTA Game Awards, D.I.C.E. Awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and Game Developers Choice Awards.

Lucasfilm is a company that has both told stories and created ways to tell stories in ways that have spanned the globe over the last five decades. Throughout the year, the company will continue to celebrate its history along with the things it currently has going on. DAPS MAGIC will cover these!
