Walt Disney World and Brightline Announce Agreement on Disney Springs Station

A train station will be constructed at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort. Today Walt Disney World Resort and Brightline announced an agreement on the station. This will be another way for guests to travel to Walt Disney World Resort. It will offer those who do not want to drive the option to ride the rails instead. This new station will connect Walt Disney World Resort with Brightline stations at Orlando International Airport (OIA), Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach along with planned stations in Aventura, Boca Raton, and Port Miami. The expansion between West Palm Beach and Orlando International Airport is expected to be completed next year.

“Brightline will offer a car-free connection to the millions of visitors from around the state and the world who plan to make Walt Disney World Resort part of their vacation plans,” said Patrick Goddard, president of Brightline. “Our mission has always been to connect our guests to the people and places that matter, and Walt Disney World Resort is a tremendous example of this.”

The station at Downtown Disney will include a ground floor lobby, passenger facilities, and an upper-level train platform. The location that is being proposed would place the station near the four theme parks at Walt Disney World, the two water parks, and its more than 25 hotels.

“We’re excited to work with Brightline as they pursue the potential development of a train station at Walt Disney World Resort, a project that would support our local economy and offer a bold, forward-looking transportation solution for our community and guests,” said Jeff Vahle, president of Walt Disney World Resort.

The agreement announced today is contingent on government approvals and any other contingencies Brightline may have. It marks the next step for Brightline on a journey that started in Florida in 2018 when the company was awarded the right to execute lease agreements by the FDOT and the Central Florida Expressway Authority to connect Orlando International Airport and Tampa by rail. Engineering and design work for the project began in 2020.
