Today the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds flew over EPCOT to help kick off National Veterans and Military Families Month. The month of November is known as National Veterans and Military Families Month. Throughout the month, the nation pauses to honor those that have served the United States in uniform along with their families that support them.
This visit by the Thunderbirds took place almost exactly a decade since their last visit over the skies of Walt Disney World Resort. Previously, they soared over Walt Disney World Resort on October 27, 2010. The famous “America’s Ambassadors in Blue” flew over EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth twice and also performed their “Delta Break” maneuver.
The flyover connects with The Walt Disney Company which has a long history of supporting the military. Both Walt and Roy Disney, the company founders, served in uniform for the United States during World War I. The Walt Disney Company has been an active leader in hiring, training, and supporting military veterans with the Heroes Work Here initiative, the Heroes Supply Here program, and Disney Veterans Institute.
Footage of today’s flyover will also be a part of the Snowball Express conference hosted by the Gary Sinise Foundation, which serves the children of fallen military heroes, their surviving parents and guardians, and Gold Star families.
