California Officials to Visit In-State Theme Parks This Week to Develop Plans

While California Governor Gavin Newsom has said that he is in “no hurry” to reopen theme parks, it seems the state is taking steps in that direction. This week, it was announced that California officials would be taking trips to visit in-state theme parks to begin to develop reopening plans.

In a conference today, California Health and Human Services Secretary Mark Ghaly said “In terms of the California visits, those are upcoming, and together the information and the dialogue with our theme park operators across the state will help us land in a place that I think we can all feel confident is based on the best and most up-to-date information.”

I would imagine that these visits will also tie into last week’s visit to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. We hope that between the personal observations of Florida’s reopening strategies and physical visits to California theme parks, there could be productive dialogue around these reopenings.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said in the press conference today that they would be visiting with some of the large theme parks in the state. Though he did not disclose who he would be meeting with, we can only imagine that the Disneyland Resort is on that list.

Of course, we still do not know when California theme parks will reopen but we will keep you updated when it happens!
