Savi’s Workshop Reopening in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Savi’s Workshop will soon be reopening in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Disney Parks Blog announced that soon guests will be able to build their own lightsabers again when they visit Walt Disney World Resort. Savi’s Workshop will be reopening on September 16, 2020. It should be noted that the experience will be slightly different to allow for physical distancing and other safety protocols currently in place at Walt Disney World Resort due to COVID-19. However, guests will still be able to learn from the Gatherers how to build their own lightsaber.

There are four main types of lightsabers that guests will be able to build. With the guidance of the Gatherers, guests can build a lightsaber focused on one of the following four themes:

  • Peace and Justice – Utilize salvaged scraps of fallen Jedi temples and crashed starships in Republic-era lightsaber designs that honor the galaxy’s former guardians.
  • Power and Control – Originally forged by warriors from the dark side, objects used in this lightsaber style are rumored remnants from the Sith home world and abandoned temples.
  • Elemental Nature – Craft a lightsaber from special components born from the Force, such as Brylark trees, Cartusion whale bones or Rancor teeth.
  • Protection and Defense – Incorporate hilt materials bearing mysterious motifs and inscriptions that reconnect a lightsaber’s wielder with the ancient wellspring of the Force.

It is suggested that if you want to build a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop that you make a reservation. This can be done on Disneyworld.com or the My Disney Experience mobile app. Guests can also walk up to the shop and see if there is availability. To be able to experience Savi’s Workshop, guests must have a valid theme park ticket and Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the day they wish to build a lightsaber.

For those who cannot make it to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to build a lightsaber but would like to see what the experience is like, check out the video that was shot at Savi’s Workshop at Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on its opening day:
