Today, Deadline confirmed that Garth Davis would be directing the next installment of Disney’s Tron. This next step signals to fans that the newest Tron film may truly become a reality in our not-so-distant future!
You may know Garth Davis from his critically acclaimed 2016 film Lion. The biographical drama was nominated for six Oscars including Best Picture. While his other works have included mostly small-budget art house films, it is reported that he pursued this job until he won over the Disney executives that are overseeing this project.
Earlier this Summer, it reported that Jesse Wigutow had written the most recent draft of the film. Jared Leto is in talks to star in this next Tron film as well as producing alongside Justin Springer and Emma Ludbrook.
While this film is moving forward, it is not confirmed by Disney just yet. We hope to see it officially greenlit by the studio soon so we can see this sci-fi world come to life once again!
