Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will not be reopening anytime soon. Disney confirmed today that it won’t be reopening until summer 2021. Disney released the following statement on the resort:
As we continue to reopen additional Disney Resort hotels to Guests, we are modifying the reopening date for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort which will reopen next summer. This schedule adjustment also allows us to complete some refurbishment work at the Resort hotel, including enhancements to the Great Ceremonial House and Guest rooms. We expect work to begin in early October and look forward to sharing more about these changes in the future. The Villas and Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will remain open during this refurbishment.
Disney shared that while the Resort is closed, the rooms will be updated to a more Pacific Ocean-inspired color palette. They will include inspiration from Disney’s Moana as well. There hasn’t been any concept art released yet but expect it to come at some point.
Originally, Disney’s Polynesian Resort was to reopen in August before the reopening date was pushed back until October. Now the reopening will be sometime next summer. Disney Vacation Club units, including the bungalows on the water and the villas, continue to stay open.
DAPS MAGIC will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.
