Virtual Birthday – DISNEY Reporter

Welcome to another edition of the DISNEY Reporter. This week’s edition is much different than originally expected. Normally, this week would be dedicated to everything that happened at the Disneyland Resort. In fact, this week’s edition probably would have gone out late due to the opening of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. However, those things didn’t happen. Instead, we’ll share with you the top Disney and geek headlines as they happened this week.

On Wednesday of this week, Disneyland Paris, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopened. This came on the dame day that Hong Kong Disneyland closed again due to another spike in coronavirus cases in the region. At EPCOT, the reopening found Spaceship Earth reopening again in its current state. This week it was announced that Spaceship Earth will not be changing for the foreseeable future. It was also announced that the Mary Poppins attraction for the UK Pavilion has also been put on hold. At the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, some attractions have said their last goodbye. Primeval Whirl and Rivers of Light will not be reopening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Stitch’s Great Escape will not be reopening at the Magic Kingdom. Finally, the Cultural Representative Program at the Walt Disney World Resort has been suspended indefinitely as well.

This week also some corporate staffing changes as well. President and Managing Director, Disney Parks International Michael Colglazier was announced as the new CEO of Virgin Galactic. His replacement, Jill Estorino, was also named this week.

Finally, Disneyland celebrated its 65th birthday this week… virtually. This was done creatively and in many different ways. DAPS MAGIC celebrated with a celebration of the last ten years of birthdays for Disneyland during a livestream, among other ways.

We hope you enjoy this week’s edition of the DISNEY Reporter! Share with us in the comments below what you think the top story of the week was. Stay healthy and safe and we look forward to seeing you in the parks!
