Hong Kong Disneyland will be temporarily reclosing its gates on July 18th due to a spike in coronavirus cases in the region. This comes after the park reopened on June 18th. It had been closed for months due to the impact of coronavirus. The new temporary closure was confirmed by a spokesperson for Hong Kong Disneyland to CNN.
As required by the government and health authorities in line with prevention efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will temporarily close from July 15. The Hong Kong Disneyland Resort hotels will remain open with adjusted levels of services. They have put in place enhanced health and safety measures that reflect the guidance of health and government authorities, such as social distancing measures and increased cleaning and sanitization.
At this point, it is unknown how long the temporary closure will last.
Hong Kong Disneyland was the second Disney theme park to reopen following Shanghai Disneyland. Since it has reopened Tokyo Disney Resort has also opened its parks. This last weekend Walt Disney World Resort began the phased reopening of its parks with Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be reopening on Wednesday. Disneyland Paris is also expected to begin reopening on Wednesday as well.
