Disneyland Resort Updates Face Covering Policy & Closes Loopholes

The Disneyland Resort has updated its face covering policies. This comes after Walt Disney World Resort recently did the same. The policy has been updated to address two things, the types of face coverings allowed and also the sip and stroll loophole.

With the new updates, neck gaiters, and open-chin triangle bandanas are no longer considered acceptable face coverings. Face coverings may now only be removed for eating or drinking when guests are stationary and also observing a proper physical distance from others.

The updated policy comes as more establishments continue to open in the Downtown Disney District. At this time though, it is unknown when the parks or hotels will reopen at the Disneyland Resort.

Here is the current face covering policy straight from Disneyland’s website:

All Guests ages 2 and older are required to bring and wear face coverings when visiting the Downtown Disney District.

All face coverings should:

    • Fully cover an individual’s nose and mouth and allow the Guest to remain hands-free
    • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
    • Be secured with ties or ear loops
    • Be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable

At this time, neck gaiters and open-chin triangle bandanas are not acceptable face coverings.

Guests may remove their face covering while actively eating or drinking outside, stationary and maintaining appropriate physical distancing from others.

Costume masks are not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.

The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.
