Alan Menken Earns Coveted EGOT Status with Daytime Emmy Win

On Sunday night, Disney Legend Alan Menken earned a daytime Emmy for composing “Waiting in the Wings” from Tangled: The Series: Rapunzel and the Great Tree. This means that Alan Menken has officially achieved EGOT status after he has been an active musician since 1972!

To earn an EGOT is no easy feat! The earner has to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and a Tony to achieve this highly-coveted status. Many artists dream of being recognized on all these platforms but few are able to achieve what Menken pulled off! Included in this prestigious group are Robert Lopez, John Legend, and James Earl Jones!

Menken started his journey towards earning an EGOT when he earned an Oscar for best original score on The Little Mermaid. He has earned a lot of his awards while creating music in the Disney sphere so it is only fair that his Emmy win came from Tangled: The Series: Rapunzel and the Great Tree! Alan Menken became a Disney Legend in 2001.
