Hong Kong Disneyland Reveals New Rendering of Castle of Magical Dreams as Photo Shows it Nearing Completion

Announcements about Disney parks reopening continue to come forward. The most recent, Hong Kong Disneyland, will have it be the second Disney theme park globally to reopen after the COVID-19 pandemic. With the announcement of Hong Kong Disneyland’s reopening there came a lovely new rendering of the Castle of Magical Dreams. This castle, originally a replica of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland in California, has been under construction to become a completely new castle.

The new rendering from Disney gives more details about what guests will see when it is completed. Originally, this was scheduled to be on September 5, 2020. However, it is unknown if the pandemic impacted that timeline. The new rendering showcases many of the different themes and elements that will be seen by guests visiting Hong Kong Disneyland. In fact, it will focus on story elements of 13 different Disney princesses. It will also house Bibbity Bobbity Boutique.

Here is a description of the work being done to the castle from a Hong Kong Disneyland Press Release:

This is the first time that an existing castle in a Disney park has undergone a transformation of this scale, in what is sure to be one of the most momentous, highly-anticipated unveilings at Hong Kong Disneyland. The new thematic towers and spires are now in the process of being lifted into the skies and fitted into place onto the castle base.

The castle’s design is inspired by the stories from some of the most iconic Disney Princesses. The re-imagined castle will pay tribute to each of these Disney heroines for pursuing their dreams. The architectural elements embrace the characteristics of each heroine through the interpretation of colors, icons, patterns and cultural features, with uniquely designed towers, turrets and spires dedicated to their respective stories. Guests will be able to recognize the individual elements inspired by their favorite Disney heroines, celebrating a sense of diversity, inclusion and unity.

With its scheduled opening in 2020, the castle will stand as a shining beacon of courage, hope and possibility, inspiring all who dare to dream big. In addition, there will be a brand new, breath-taking nighttime spectacular as well as a new daytime show, details of which will be unveiled at a later date.

A look at the castle rendering released by Disney shows different architectural styles that are pulled from different stories. It also shows that the original Sleeping Beauty Castle will still be a foundational part of the new castle.
