The Disneyland Resort has released a proposal that would have the original Magic Kingdom reopening on July 17, 2020. This will have guests return to the parks on the 65th anniversary of the opening of Disneyland. Guests who hope to visit the parks will be required to get a reservation as the Disneyland Resort will be limiting capacity.
The proposal from the Disneyland Resort would have Downtown Disney District reopening on July 9th. This would be followed by the reopening of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure on July 17th. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel would reopen on July 23. The Disneyland Hotel will be reopening at a later date.
Upon approval of their proposal, the Disneyland Resort will be reopening with enhanced safety and health protocols. There will also be a Guest Experience Team, much like is currently seen at Disney Springs, around the Disneyland Resort to assist guests and answer questions regarding the new health and safety policies.
Upon the re-opening of the parks, some entertainment offerings that draw a large crowd will be temporarily suspended. They will return at some later date. There will also be no character meet and greets for the time being. However, characters will still be in the parks entertaining guests in a different way.
Ahead of the governmental approval, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will continue with the plan to reopen on July 23. With the reopening will come new physical distancing guidelines along with enhanced cleaning measures. There will be other health and safety practices put in place as a part of reopening.
The reopening of Downtown Disney on July 9th will be in accordance with states reopening guidelines. This will lead to operational changes for the safety of Cast Members and guests. Many of these changes will be based on guidelines from health authorities and will be focused on physical distancing and cleanliness.
Disney shared that more information will be released soon about the “enhanced health and safety measures and operational changes for reopening locations.” As is so often the case, guidelines and policies could (and most likely will) change as the Disneyland Resort continues to strive for the best and safest practices for both guests and Cast Members.
Currently, ticket sales have been suspended. This includes annual passes and also the renewal of annual passes.
