Disney to Re-Release Select Hits as Theaters Begin to Reopen

As theaters begin to reopen, movie studios are beginning to release previously released titles so that they will have content. This is before there are wide openings of theaters and wide theatrical releases of new movies. The Walt Disney Company is among those companies that will be re-releasing some movies. With multiple studios in its fold, movies could come from Disney Studios, Pixar Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios.

Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis has shared on Twitter that it is expected that Disney will be releasing several films over the course of four weeks through its various studios. They include:

  • The Avengers
  • The Empire Strikes Back
  • Black Panther
  • Deadpool
  • Zootopia
  • The Greatest Showman
  • Iron Man
  • The Force Awakens
  • Inside Out
  • And more…

Davis also shared that it will be up to individual theaters to book the movies they want to show. With that in mind, not all of the movies on this list may end up at each local theater.

At this time, Disney hasn’t publicized this and more movies from The Walt Disney Company are expected to join this list. This could lead to re-releases of some of the other big hits that Disney has produced through the years. Some recent movies like Frozen 2, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and The Lion King can be found on Disney+ but could also eventually make their way back onto the big screen. There are also some classics like Raiders of the Lost Ark or The Little Mermaid that would be fun to see make a return to the big screen as well.

At this time, Fandango does not reflect the release any of the titles listed above.

DAPS MAGIC will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available. What movie would you like to see return to the big screen? Share your thoughts in the comments below or with DAPS MAGIC on Facebook or Twitter!
