Disney has officially hit “pause” on the refurbishment of Spaceship Earth. In a recent post on the Disney Parks Blog, Disney announced that when EPCOT reopens on July 15th, Spaceship Earth will be available for guests to enjoy. This comes after the parks had to close due to the coronavirus. Originally, it had been announced that Spaceship Earth would be getting a refurbishment.
In the Disney Parks Blog post, the continuation of the current version of Spaceship Earth was acknowledged. The Disney Parks Blog said, “Time travelers, take note that the iconic Spaceship Earth attraction at EPCOT will also continue to be available in its current state while we pause on its planned refurbishment.”
It was expected that Spaceship Earth would undergo a refurbishment that would show “how light plays a central role in our shared human journey, coming to life in dynamic ways in a celebration of the magic that’s possible when we all come together.”
At this time, it isn’t known when Spaceship Earth will undergo its refurbishment. It isn’t known if the plans will be the same when it does. DAPS MAGIC will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available. What do you think of Spaceship Earth staying open longer in its current form?
