Bowers Museum Reopens With Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic and New Health and Safety Protocols

The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, California has reopened after closing in march due to the impact of COVID-19. With the reopening, the Bowers Museum is observing new health and safety protocols. They also are offering the Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic exhibit with an extended run through October 18, 2020.

The Bowers Museum is taking reservations for guests wishing to visit. This helps limit capacity and empower social distancing. Face masks are required for those visiting the Bowers Museum. Guests are also encouraged to stay 6 feet away from others while there. Hand sanitizer is offered as well and encouraged to be used. Signs at the museum displayed these guidelines.

Guests visiting the museum also were encouraged to move only one way through the exhibits. Arrows gave directions for where guests should go.

Guests are let into the museum at specific times to keep the museum from getting too full.

Hand sanitizing stations could be found throughout the museum as well.

Barriers were in place to help keep employees and guests safe.

Water fountains were blocked off as they are deemed not safe.

For those who wish to visit the Bowers Museum and see Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic, it is suggested that tickets be purchased in advance. This will help the Bowers Museum limited capacity and help keep a safe environment. The Bowers Museum has other safety protocols in place. The museum is also increasing its cleaning protocols, especially in “high touch” areas.

The friends of DAPS MAGIC who visited the museum found the museum to be a safe feeling environment as great care was taken for safety and cleanliness.

The Bowers Museum closed its doors on March 17th due to COVID-19. This was right after the opening of Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic.

  1. Great exhibit…especially for Disney lovers! Appreciated the protocols put into place to keep everyone safe! Gift shop will open on Monday but have limited merch available in the foyer until then. We did purchase tickets in advance however we did NOT receive an order number and apparently their system was down but they honored the bank statement I had with the transaction. Hopefully that will get fixed before they get busier!

    1. That’s great that they honored the bank statement! I’ve always found the customer service at the Bowers Museum to really be quite good. Glad you guys enjoyed the exhibit! I thought it was fantastic when I saw it in March. I particularly enjoyed getting to see Herbie!
