Universal Studios Orlando Plans Phased Reopening Beginning June 1

This morning, The Florida Economic Recovery Task Force has begun to listen to theme park plans to reopen. As many businesses present their plans, we are starting to get an idea of when guests may be inside theme parks once again. Today, we learned that Universal Studios Orlando is planning to begin their phased reopening on June 1.

Of course, this theme park giant has closed its theme parks on both coasts since mid-March, much like Disney. As the COVID-19 pandemic continued to progress, Universal announced that they would be stretching their closure indefinitely to help protect guests and fans who come from all over the world to see both parks at the Universal Orlando Resort.

In the presentation this morning, they announced that their phased reopening would begin with team members only on June 1 and 2. On June 3, the parks announced that they would invite guests to help reopen the park. It was hinted that annual passholders would be contacted to come to the parks and see the changes firsthand. Universal Studios Orlando has announced that they would aim to be fully reopened to the general public by Friday, June 5.

Of course, the next big question is what will happen at Walt Disney World Resort in response. Only time will tell what is to come but we can only hope that it will come soon after these phased reopenings! The next step from these theme parks will be a plan to reopen the West coast counterparts. Stay tuned for more news as it happens!
