Earlier this year, Tokyo Disneyland Resort closed to the public to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Since then, all parks around the world have followed suit and announced indefinite closures to help protect guests. Originally, Tokyo Disneyland announced that they would reopen to guests on April 20 but they have now announced that they plan to extend the closure of the park of the resort.
While it is unknown how long the resort will remain closed to the public, Disney announced today that they would reassess and announce a new date Mid-May. In addition to announcing the reopening date of the resort, they will also be assessing the opening of the Tokyo Disneyland Expansion Area. This will come after the parks have officially welcomed guests back through the gates.
At this time, Tokyo Disneyland Resort was the only resort that had a slated reopening date. With the announcement of the plan to extend the closure, it joins all Disney theme parks around the world with indefinite closures. Of course, we all miss seeing the parks in person every day but we recognize that this is the best course of action to keep guests happy and healthy!
