2020 Disneyland Resort All-American College Band Suspended Due to COVID-19

A popular summer tradition at the Disneyland Resort will not be happening this year. Today the Disneyland Resort All-American College Band announced that this year’s band will not be happening due to the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19.

The announcement came from the band’s Facebook page. The announcement comes as the band celebrates its 50th anniversary. Recently the band had begun to reach out to alumni ahead of the presumed 50th-anniversary celebration. For the 45th anniversary, alumni of the college band joined the band for a very special performance. Auditions also wrapped up in March for the 2020 Disneyland Resort All-American College Band.

Here is the announcement that was shared on the Disneyland Resort All-American College Band page:

Dear participants, candidates and fans of the All-American College Band,

We want to provide you with an update regarding this year’s program. As these times continue to prove unprecedented and ever-changing, we have made the difficult decision to suspend the All-American College Band program for 2020. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and the amount of planning, coordination and travel involved in executing this program, we felt that this was the right decision to make at this time.

Given the history that Disneyland shares with the All-American College Band program, this decision was not made lightly, and we certainly understand how disappointing this will be for many. The band brings such incredible energy to our resort and joy to our guests each summer. The passion and talents of the band members will be greatly missed this year.

We encourage you to stay in touch and look for more information once it’s available. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated during this time of uncertainty.

Sincerely,

The Disneyland Resort and the Disneyland All-American College Band team.

The Disneyland Resort All-American College Band is generally comprised of 21 top students from colleges and universities around the United States. If the band had been at the Disneyland Resort this summer, they would have performed throughout the Disneyland Resort 5 days a week for eleven weeks. They would have also worked with world-renowned artists, producers, and industry professionals during the course of their run. This would have included guest clinicians, which they also would have performed with. In previous years clinicians have included artists like Wayne Bergeron, Gregg Field, John Clayton, Jiggs Whigham, Rick Baptist, and many more.
