WonderCon Anaheim 2020 Postponed Due To COVID-19 in California

Comic-Con International, the organizer of WonderCon, announced today that WonderCon Anaheim has been postponed.

This announcement comes out of the recommendation of California Governor Gavin Newsom that any public gathering of more than 250 people should be postponed or canceled through at least the end of March.

Although the event was scheduled for April 10-12, the announcement was made in order for those who need to readjust travel arrangements and/or cancel hotel reservations may do so in a timely manner.

“To protect public health and slow the rate of transmission of COVID-19, the California Department of Public Health announced a recommendation that gatherings and events of more than 250 people would either be postponed or canceled. Comic-Con (organizer of WonderCon) will abide by this recommendation. Therefore WonderCon Anaheim, scheduled for April 10-12, 2020, will be postponed until a late date. We will begin processing refunds in the coming days.”

When asked about Comic-Con San Diego in July, Comic-Con International says, “we continue to work closely with officials in San Diego, and at this time no decision has been made regarding the rescheduling of Comic-Con slated to take place this summer – July 23-26, 2020.”

The first WonderCon was held in Oakland, California in 1987. More than 60,000 people attend WonderCon each year.
