Disney has postponed the theatrical release of ”Mulan” amid concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak and large public gatherings.
The studio has also removed “The New Mutants” and “Antlers” from its slate. All three movies have been delayed indefinitely as the studio searches for new release dates.
”Mulan” was scheduled to be released on March 27 in North America, while “The New Mutants,” the beleaguered superhero adventure from Fox, was scheduled for an April 3rd release.
Searchlight’s “Antlers,” a sci-fi horror film produced by Guillermo Del Toro, was expected to hit theaters April 17. Meanwhile, Marvel’s “Black Widow” is still expected to be released in theaters on May 1.
“Mulan” is the latest movie to shift its release date as Hollywood wrestles with the novel virus that’s rapidly spread across the world. On Thursday, Universal pushed “Fast 9” back a year, while Paramount indefinitely shelved “A Quiet Place 2.”
Closing theaters and delaying potential blockbusters are among some of the factors coming from COVID-19 to have a serious impact on the entertainment industry as a whole.
