Disney Announces Closure of Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disneyland Paris Resorts

Today The Walt Disney Company announced the closure of multiple Disney resorts due to the coronavirus outbreak. The news began with the announcement that the Disneyland Resort will be closing the gates to its parks starting on March 14th. The hotels at the Disneyland Resort will be closing two days later on March 16th.

Later in the day, the news broke that both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris Resorts will also be shuttering their gates. Their gates will close starting on Sunday March 15th. All of these Disney resorts are currently slated to remain close through the end of March at this time.

Disney released the following statement saying:

In an abundance of caution and in the best interest of guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of our theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Paris Resort, beginning at the close of Sunday, March 15, through the end of the month.

Disney Cruise Line will suspend all new departures beginning Saturday, March 14, through the end of the month.

The Walt Disney Company will pay its cast members during that closure period

The hotels at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris will remain open until further notice. The retail and dining complexes, Disney Springs at Walt Disney World and Disney Village at Disneyland Paris, will remain open.

Domestic Walt Disney Company employees who are able to work from home are being asked to do so, including those at The Walt Disney Studios, Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Direct-to-Consumers, and Parks, Experiences and Products.

We will continue to stay in close contact with appropriate officials and health experts.

The closure of these parks means that all Disney Parks around the world will be closed starting this coming Monday. DAPS MAGIC will continue to update this story as new developments arise. Subscribe to this website and also our YouTube page for future updates.
