Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Passes $1 Billion at Global Box Office

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has joined the billion dollar club. By passing this milestone the last movie in the Skywalker Saga has become the seventh movie released in 2019 to reach $1 billion. It now joins both of its predecessors as well in reaching this mark.

Currently, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has garnered $481 million at the domestic box office and $519 million internationally. In total, this brings the box office to $1.001 billion. It has taken the film 28 days to reach this level. Other movies from 2019 that reached this level include Frozen 2, Captain Marvel, Aladdin, The Lion King, Toy Story 4, and Avengers: Endgame.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker concludes the nine movie series that was started in 1977 with Star Wars: A New Hope. The future of Star Wars includes new theme park experiences, hotels, programming on Disney+, and eventually new movies. More news is coming out regularly.
