Things are still pretty early in the development of the Cassian Andor series on Disney+. This new Star Wars show will follow the adventures of Cassian Andor, the Rebel agent seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This part of his story though will take place before the movie. Diego Luna is already known to be returning to portray the character he originated in Rogue One. Alan Tudyk will also be returning as K-2SO. Now, there will be more of the team from Rogue One joining the project.
Rogue One writer Tony Gilroy is joining the team to write the pilot for the series. He will also be directing several episodes. These should be both comfortable roles for him. He originally did some uncredited writing on Rogue One before taking a bigger role in the film. He was brought back to handle the extensive reshoots the movie underwent. He also was instrumental in the film’s editing process.
Gilroy’s other screenwriting credits include Michael Clayton, The Devil’s Advocate, the Jason Bourne franchise, and Delores Claiborne. He would also direct Michael Clayton, a film for which he earned Oscar nominations for both directing and screenwriting. He also directed The Bourne Legacy.
At this time, the Cassian Andor series is expected to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2021. However, a specific date has not been announced at this time. What do you think about what is known about this series so far? Are you excited about it? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
