Today the Disney Skyliner opened to the public at the Walt Disney World Resort. This new highway in the sky allows guests to soar between Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and Disney’s Pop Century Resort. This gondola system moves a large number of people quickly through the skies of the Walt Disney World Resort.
The gondolas move along quite quickly and the breeze that enters them provides a natural air conditioning system. A narrator also at times shares details about the journey. Overall, the experience is a wonderful one for guests aboard. However, when the system stops it does warm up a little bit. Gusts of wind can also be felt while on the Disney Skyliner. Some of the gondolas have character wraps on them and others just have the window. It IS easier to see (and film/take pictures) on gondolas without the window wraps.
The Disney Skyliner was immediately popular and lines grew fairly long throughout the day. However, the Disney Skyliner absorbed them quickly so wait times really weren’t significant. The feedback from guests (and our own experience) was quite positive. This looks like it will be a very popular form of transportation at the Walt Disney World Resort.
