Summer is in full swing at the Disneyland Resort, and it was another warm Sunday! But thanks to the breeze, it actually made most of the day comfortable. After I walked into Disneyland, I headed to the Disney Gallery in the lobby of the Main Street Opera House to check out the new Haunted Mansion 50th anniversary exhibit. There is a lot on concept art, as well as artwork that has never been displayed or released publicly.
The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite attractions, and it’s definitely nice to see what could have been inside the Mansion. From its early concept as a ‘Museum of the Weird’ to its current state, the Haunted Mansion has seen a number of changes throughout the years.
There is a lot more concept art to check out in the Disney Gallery, and I’m sure this exhibit will be around through the entire summer. After visiting the Disney Gallery, I was getting hungry so off I went to Coke Corner. I got a chili cheese dog with chips, and a cup of water. Awhile later, I met up with Mr. DAPs and Caitie for our Sunday adventure. The first thing we did was go to Market House Starbucks for our coffee. And since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was open for everyone, we headed there for our dapscaf photo. Plus it was a very pleasant day in the Black Spire Outpost once we found a shady area.
We sat at Docking Bay 7 to cool off, and while there got some great photos of the area. Plus our friend Sophia stopped by to share some Star Wars themed donuts available at White Water Snacks at the Grand Californian Hotel.
After some time on Batuu, we headed to Matterhorn Way to watch Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. We found out Friday that this parade will end its run at Disneyland on July 17, so we wanted to be able to see it and get some photos. While it was warm, the performers kept smiles on their faces and made the parade fun!
Mickey’s Soundsational Parade is such a colorful parade, and it was definitely a beautiful day to watch this parade and cool off.
Following Soundsational, we headed to Disney California Adventure to check out the new Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. But as we headed there, we made a slight detour to the AP Corner underneath Silly Symphony Swings. Disneyland APs can pick up a Lion King themed button, AP magnet, as well as purchase the AP exclusive Lion King sipper, and take a photo.
We then headed to Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. It officially opened on Friday, and the area is definitely fun and colorful. There are definitely ‘Instagram worthy’ places to get some fun photos!
After checking out Emotional Whirlwind and getting some photos taken by Disney PhotoPass, it was time for dinner. While Mr. DAPs and Caitie opted for Smokejumpers Grill, I opted for Lucky Fortune Cookery. I got the kids meal, which consists of a chicken and brown rice box, a cutie mandarin orange, an GoGo Squeeze applesauce, and a drink. I also got a side of edamame to enjoy with my meal. And after dinner, we went on Soarin’ Over California.
After Soarin’, we headed back to Disneyland and the Black Spire Outpost. This was my first time to see the area at sunset and at night. It’s such a different feel, and it’s hard to describe it.
And in between visits to Batuu, we ventured to the Caribbean to see some pirates. Of course that meant that we went back to the Black Spire Outpost. We wanted to see fireworks from there, and I’m glad we did! Oh, and expect it to be a bit louder there than the rest of the Park. No music is played in the area, except for the area music and sound effects heard while visiting the Outpost, so the show will be different there.
And after some time in Batuu, it was time to head back to our own planet, and end our wonderful day at Disneyland! The Cast Members we encountered during our day went above and beyond for even the simplest of things, and we couldn’t be ever more grateful for that.
