On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, Disneyland celebrated 64 years of making magic. The Happiest Place on Earth came alive along the parade route as Mickey, Minnie, the Disneyland Ambassadors, the Dapper Dans, and a host of characters led the birthday moments. Each happened approximately 35 minutes before Mickey’s Soundsational Parade.
The cavalcade included dozens of characters and entered to the music most recognizable as the theme song to Mickey’s Mix Magic. After a brief speech by the Disneyland Ambassadors, the dedication speech that Walt Disney gave on Disneyland’s opening day was played. Following this, the Disneyland Band conductor led everyone in a very upbeat version of Happy Birthday.
The moments were energetic and capped off by confetti that came from the crowd of characters and their accompanying cast member friends. The birthday cavalcade made it possible for lots of people to be able to participate in the birthday celebration.
Next year, Disneyland will be celebrating its 65th anniversary. While nothing has been specifically announced for next year’s celebrations, it will a memorable year at the Disneyland Resort. In January, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be opening. Also sometime in 2020, the new Marvel-themed land will be opening. It is presumed that a new parade will be arriving at Disneyland, and then there are always the surprises that arrive. Perhaps some of them will be shared at the D23 Expo next month. What is known is that Disneyland will continue to offer more and more magic with each year, just as it has for the last 64 years!
