The Disneyland Resort is now allowing guests to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge without reservations. Today was the first day for guests visiting Disneyland to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge using the new virtual queue system. The system began being utilized approximately 20 minutes after Disneyland opened.
Throughout the day, the virtual queue began allowing boarding groups into the land. The initial boarding groups were let in shortly after the virtual queue was started. As the day progressed, parties were given late afternoon times. By the late afternoon/early evening, guests were free to enter the land and the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction had a line of about 35 minutes. This was down from three hours earlier in the day.
Guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will still need to make reservations online for Savi’s Workshop and Oga’s Cantina. This can be done online at Disneyland.com. To get into the virtual queue and become part of a boarding group, utilize the Disneyland App or visit one of the Fastpass stations at the Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, or Space Mountain. Boarding groups are called via a screen in the park or on the Disneyland app, once a group is called guests have two hours to enter the land.
Overall, the day went quite smoothly for guests visiting Disneyland. Across the entire park, lines were short. The longest line was for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Even that line died down as the day progressed. The immediate rush in the morning was also for this attraction. The rest of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was quite enjoyable and easy to navigate. Rey and Chewbacca could be found wandering the Resistance encampment and interacting with guests. Kylo Ren and Stormtroopers could also be found in Black Spire Outpost throughout the day as they searched for Resistance members.
With dropouts hitting many annual passes, it can be guessed that the coming weeks will not be insanely busy at the Disneyland Resort. Some guests who were scared away by the talk of things being insanely busy will most likely make their return to the park to check out Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. However, it appears that the Disneyland Resort has fantastic plans in place to handle the crowds and the system works.
