The iconic attraction of Disneyland Paris reopens after the most important rehabilitation of its history and reserves to the visitors a lot of surprises!
Phantom Manor revisits the original concept of the Haunted Mansion created in 1969 by Walt Disney and its Imagineers, relocating it to the American West at the time of the Gold Rush. Overlooking Frontierland, the imposing home bears witness to a glorious past, but its decrepit and disturbing state suggests a troubled history: that of a terrible “Phantom” and an elusive bride whose tragic destiny remains crowned with mystery …
The attraction has just benefited from a major renovation that has mobilized over a hundred people and has revived all of its sets and special effects. Paints, lighting, Audio-Animatronics® characters and audio systems have been carefully reworked for a more immersive experience than ever before.
But that’s not all. The Imagineers took advantage of this rehabilitation to clear up some of the shadows in its history. To do this, they took pleasure in re-imagining several iconic moments of attraction by relying on new illusions they have the secret: ghostly faces appear in the mirrors, paintings are transformed before our eyes as if by magic, revealing some well-hidden mysteries … starting with the identity of the Phantom himself!
Attentive ears can recognize the voice of Vincent Price, mythical actor of horror cinema. By the magic of technology, it is he who now welcomes the Visitors in the manor and guides them to the heart of the mystery.
But these will not be at the end of their surprises. Many other encounters await them throughout this journey of the strange …
And to extend the experience, Disneyland Paris has created a whole range of “collectible” products in tribute to the attraction, including the book Phantom Manor – the decrypted attraction , which details the history and specificities of the attraction , through numerous archival documents, testimonials, photos and unpublished details.
What a thrill of pleasure!
