World of Color has returned to the Disneyland Resort. On Friday night at 10:00 PM, crowds cheered as the lights went down and the music began for the show. The night was quite cool but it didn’t dampen the spirits of those in attendance. The crowd was enthusiastic throughout the show and diehard fans braved the front row to see the show up close (and also potentially be drenched). After not running for the last 10 months, the return of World of Color was highly anticipated.

The show that is currently running is a modified version of what the show opened as. Where the original had the Night on Bald Mountain and Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame, the current version has a Pirates of the Caribbean segment. World of Color is currently in a test and adjust phase this week. It is officially set to reopen on March 1st. It is appearing on the Disneyland Resort App daily leading up to it.

World of Color was originally announced in the fall of 2007 as part of the Disney California Adventure expansion. Its original name was Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color. That name was later shortened. The show features 1,200 fountains, lights, lasers, fog, fire, and projections. It originally opened in 2010. Since then, it has had multiple versions for different seasons and celebrations. This includes modifications to the main original show to incorporate certain movies that were being promoted, holiday versions and the 60th version of the show that featured Neal Patrick Harris.
