runDisney has rebranded the Dark Side Half Marathon weekend in Florida to be the Star Wars Rival Run. The theme includes the duality of the Light and Dark Side of the Force well known in Star Wars lore. A Light Side Half Marathon was formerly at the Disneyland Resort before construction put a hiatus on the races. The Dark Side Half Marathon took place last year and now has become the Star Wars Rival Run.
These medals are the first of their kind since it has been rebranded. It’s interesting to see the characters picked for each medal. And it helps satisfy any curiosity of how the dual theme would work because when runners registered they had to pick the Light or Dark Side.
Though this is the first rethemed race, anyone trying for “legacy” with the Dark Side Half Marathon is still in the running as this will be the 4th year of the Star Wars races in Walt Disney World.
