Shanghai Disney Resort is getting another expansion. Today it was announced that an area themed around the Disney animated film Zootopia is on its way to the newest Disney theme park. This is the second expansion that Shanghai Disneyland will be receiving. It will also make it the eighth land for the park.
The Zootopia area of the park will be based on the movie that came out in 2016. It will be the first land based on this movie in any of the Disney Parks globally. With this land, guests will be invited into the mammalian metropolis where “anyone can be anything.” The land will include a new high tech attraction that will bring the story of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to life. It will utilize state-of-the-art technology coupled with Disney storytelling to do this. The land will also include themed merchandise and food locations.
Zootopia was quite successful globally. It is also the number 1 animated film at the box office of all time in China. Its popularity there makes this land a natural choice for an expansion at Shanghai Disneyland.
