Construction Begins on The New Solar Facility that Will Provide Power to Walt Disney World Resort

Construction begins! You may remember earlier this month when Disney announced the solar facility but it is already becoming a reality!

The project, developed in partnership with Reedy Creek Improvement District and Origis Energy USA will be a 270-acre, 50-megawatt solar facility. When the facility is completed in just a few short months, the panels will produce enough clean energy to fuel two of the four theme parks in the Walt Disney World resort! This will further Disney’s commitment to the planet and will help save the energy it would have been using otherwise.

Cast Members from Disney’s Animal, Science, and Environment and Horticulture teams are playing an integral role in the development of the facility, including their efforts to make the site pollinator friendly and safe for endangered species of butterflies, bees and other insects. This project not only allows the Walt Disney World Resort to have the power it needs to run smoothly, but the experts on the project are helping to protect and conserve the Earth around it. Now that it protecting our planet!

Keep your eyes right here on DAPs MAGIC as we update you on all the ways Disney is helping conserve this wonderful planet we all live on!
