It is confirmed, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be returning for a sixth season. The original Marvel television show has been given a sixth season 13-episode order.
The series is built around Agent Coulson, originally a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent from the Marvel movies then turned director, and his team as they try to keep Earth safe from threats both on the planet and off.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been averaging 3.6 million viewers and a 1.1 in the 18-49 demo and it wasn’t known if it would indeed get another season. Because of the uncertainty about a sixth season, the producers wrote the end of season five as a potential series finale as well. With that in mind, and also with the events of Avengers: Infinity War, where the show will go next is a big question mark. Another big question mark is if Phil Coulson will be in this season as the cast list has not been released at this point. He will be appearing in Marvel’s upcoming movie Captain Marvel. However, his future with his current team is very uncertain.
