Disney’s Animal Kingdom continues to get more and more exciting, especially in Pandora! Over the weekend a new Pandora Utility Suit was unveiled on the Disney Parks Blog and Disney social media. This new suit, based off of the Amplified Mobility Platform (AMP) found in the movie Avatar, tower 10 feet high above those walking around Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The Pandora Utility Suit is said to way 4.2-tons and carry a human pilot within its exo-carrier. The pilot can control the Pandora Utility Set as it helps to restore the beautiful terrain of Pandora. To do this the pilot can control both of the articulated hands. Its shoulder span is over five feet wide. The Pandora Utility Suit is also used to collect plant samples, study flora, and of course, survive the wild terrain of Avatar. Notice that the suit has both battle and claw marks on it. These come from a Thanator, a local alpha predator that is found on Pandora.
When the suit arrives in Pandora on April 22, the pilot will interact with guests and share about the world of Pandora and the importance of preserving nature.
The Pandora Utility Suit is a collaboration between both Disney and Lightstorm Entertainment, the combo that brought Pandora – The World of Avatar to life originally. The suit will arrive on April 22 as part of the 20th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.
