For Sale: Anaheim GardenWalk

The Anaheim GardenWalk is once again up for sale. The struggling outdoor mall is up for sale for the second time since opening in 2008. Walking distance from Disneyland, this establishment has just never taken off with those in the area. There are a few restaurants on each end of the Anaheim GardenWalk that have done decently well but people haven’t continued on to the shops and restaurants in the interior.

There has been some hope for Anaheim GardenWalk with the opening of the House of Blues earlier this year. It moved from the Downtown Disney District to its new home at the Anaheim GardenWalk. There is also a new J.W. Marriott hotel being built that should bring more traffic to the area as well.

Real estate broker CBRE is offering the 455,343-square-foot mall for sale to the best offer available. Real estate management firm Arcturus and two other investors bought GardenWalk in 2012 after it went into bankruptcy in 2010. While the price wasn’t disclosed for this sale, the Orange County Business Journal reported that it went for $73 million.

The due date for offers was originally December 8, 2017. Expect more news to come out about a potential sale of Anaheim GardenWalk in the coming months.

  1. Time for Disney to come in and buy the property. But we know that the City would probably prohibit it since their recent stance on the East Side Project. This would increase the amount of parking available, and open some possibilities of addition merchants that Disney could attract where the current owners could not.

    1. Yea, one does have to wonder if that is a possibility. I vaguely remember hearing there was something that was keeping them from buying it a few years ago. I suppose it is all politics at some level or another…

They should buy it and put some of their operations there until they decide to do something more there.
